Conference in Australia brings many different cultures together

Close to 300 delegates from 15 different countries attended the Joint ACCA / ICF Conference, held in Sydney (Australia), 11th – 15th of October. They were greeted by the excellent staff of the Australasian Cemeteries & Crematoria Association, that managed to present an excellent program.

The theme of the Conference (Sustainability in Your Environment) was looked at from all different angles, and provided the delegates with much to think about. Next to the educational and informative sessions, there was enough time for networking and getting to know other delegates.
Several international companies presented themselves and their products at the trade exhibition.

The traditional ICF Country Reports were received by the delegates with great enthusiasm and provided the opportunity to learn more about the differences and similarities between cultures.

At the conference it became soon clear that, although there are many cultural and historical differences between countries, many of the issues surrounding the services of crematoria and cemeteries are the same. The environment and the footprint that we leave on it, is high on the agenda of most governments and of the public in general.

The ACCA / ICF conference ended with splendidly organized boat trip, providing magnificent views of the world famous Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and Fort Denison. After that, it was dining and dancing at the Gala Ball. Henry Keizer, Secretary-General of the ICF remarked: “This is surely a Conference to remember! Australians are the best hosts you can wish for. They make you feel at home, where ever you come from”.
